North Port, FL (Dec. XX, 2022) – Heatherwood Construction Company is currently constructing several important amenities in one of the largest planned communities in Florida – Wellen Park. The company is building a contemporary guardhouse, the entrance sign and monument with an electronic marquee.
The three projects are under the leadership of Superintendent Levi Whiteleather and Senior Project Manager Rafael Valdes. The work also continues a long-term relationship with homebuilder Lennar Homes, one of the largest homebuilders in the country and a builder inside this 11,000-acre community, which at buildout will feature 22,500 single family and multi-family homes and approximately 50,000 residents. Currently, there are approximately 9,500 residents within its three distinct districts: West Villages, Downtown Wellen and Playmore. The community also will feature two golf courses and clubhouses, as well as many other activities.

Although residents are not scheduled to move in until 2023, many restaurants and shops inside the centerpiece of this community – Downtown Wellen – are preparing to open as soon as this month. This premier destination also features a park with scenic views of the 80-acre lake within walking distance of the all the neighborhoods inside the community. Venues also are planned for weddings and other events. A boutique hotel also is proposed.
Wellen Park is located in Sarasota County, along U.S. 41 and River Road, within the city limits of North Port, extending into the unincorporated areas of the county.
A grand celebration, highlighting the work being completed by Heatherwood Construction Company, as well as Downtown Wellen, is being planned for the first quarter of 2023.
